Ayurveda or Siddha do not explain the cures for this disease directly, because hypertension was non-existent during those ancient times. That being said ayurvedic doctors over a period of time correlated the factors causing diseases already mentioned in the Ayurveda texts. Recent times in ayurveda, hypertension is referred to as Rakta Capa Vriddhi.
The best way to combat this is to avoid meat and non-vegetarian food. Among vegetarian food one should reduce refined food, refine cereals and pulses. Completely avoid hydrogenated oil of any kind. Reduce oil consumption and replace conventional oil with extra virgin sesame or olive oil.[checklist]
